Unfair Charges (Personal / Business)
What are they?
Do you think it's fair that you're charged £20 - £30 or even more, just for being
late with a payment or being overdrawn? Does it really cost them that much to send
you a reminder letter?
Barrister Tom Brennan - so someone who is used to evaluating what is 'fair' and
what isn't - thought his overdraft charges from the NatWest were so unfair he took
them to court. At one point, they offered to pay him more than he had been charged
in the first place. We think that implies they just wanted him to drop his case
- read about it here.
Even if you're not as well acquainted with the legal system as Mr Brennan is, that's
what Hamilton Brady are here for.
Consumer group Which? have estimated that customers could pay up to £4.6 billion
in fees a year. We suspect a lot of that is unfair, and we suspect they could afford
to give some of that back.
